Indoor Rules

LAWS OF THE GAME

The laws of the game shall be as close as possible to the outdoor rules, but will be subject to revision, if required. If any rule is not covered or there is confusion the Convenor’s decision will prevail.

PAYMENT

Payment for the League and player registration must be paid as per League fee schedule (which is on your application). NO EXCEPTIONS.

Any team giving the League an NSF cheque will be fined $20.00, for each instance.

THE BALL

Only an outdoor ball will be permitted within the leagues and tournaments.

The ball shall be size 5 and both teams shall have a ball satisfactory to the Referee, available for all games. The first named team in the schedule shall be designated the Home team and shall be responsible for providing the game ball. The opponents will provide a back up ball. The facility is not responsible for balls stuck in the ceiling or rafters and/or stolen balls.

REGISTRATION OF TEAM / PLAYERS

The game shall be played by two teams, consisting of a maximum of 6 players at any one time, one being the goalkeeper. Each team may register 18 players. Each player must be registered on an OSA registration form.

Once a player has registered for one team NO TRANSFERS will be allowed.

No new registrations will be accepted after the team has played 7 games.

If a team wishes to register a player when they have already reached the maximum of 18 players, the surplus players may be deregistered. After which a deregistered player can reregister with another team. However players can not deregister and reregister with the same team.

GAME

Games must start and finish on time and teams must be ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled kick off time. A minimum of four players is required to start a game. If a team cannot provide the minimum number within 15 minutes of the scheduled kick off time, they may forfeit the game by a score of 1-0.

Unlimited substitutions shall be allowed on the fly or at any stoppage of play. Substitutions will only be allowed between the yellow lines on your side of the field to the halfway line. Any abuse of this rule could result in a two minute penalty.
THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

No slide tackles will be allowed; this rule is to the interpretation of the referee only.

PLAYER’S EQUIPMENT

The player’s equipment shall consist of a regular uniform with numbers on the shirt that correspond to the number on the team sheet. It is mandatory for all players on the team to have the same shirts with different numbers.
The number shall be of contrasting colour to the shirt. The goalkeeper must wear colours that distinguish him/her from the other players on both teams.

In the event of a clash of colours in the uniforms, the home team will be required to wear pinnies provided by the League .

Footwear shall be running shoes type of indoor soccer shoes, or outdoor cleated soccer shoes. NO METAL STUDS ALLOWED.

SHINGUARDS ARE MANDATORY DURING ALL GAMES.

TEAM SHEETS

Prior to entering the change room or field of play, ALL PLAYERS must sign-in on their designated game sheet at the front desk. Any player found not registered or not on the game sheet will result in an automatic 1-0 loss for the team they are playing for.

DURATION OF GAME (LEAGUE)

The duration of the game shall be of two equal periods of 20 minutes, unless otherwise specified. Games starting late may have the time reduced. At half time the interval shall not exceed five (5) minutes, except by the consent of the Referee.

START OF PLAY

The game shall commence from the centre circle and the ball can be played in any direction. Ball will be kicked in when the ball crosses the sideline.

FREE KICKS

All free kicks are indirect. Players who encroach within 6 feet of the kicker may be cautioned by the Referee.

PENALTY KICKS

Penalty kicks during regular or overtime shall be taken from the penalty spot. The kick shall be taken by anyone on the game sheet for that game.

DISCIPLINE

Fouls and misconduct will be the same as outdoor rules.

For a minor infraction – the player will serve a two minute penalty.
THE PLAYER MUST SERVE THE FULL TWO MINUTES.

RED CARDS – Decisions made by the disciplinary committee will be final and no further appeal will be considered.

If a player is given a red card, he/she shall leave the playing area immediately.

The guilty team shall place a player in the penalty box for the full five minutes, no matter how many goals are scored against them. After the five minute period, the team shall return to full strength, excluding the player that received the red card. If a goalkeeper receives a two minute penalty, his time may be served by another player on the field. For a red card, he will be ejected from the game and will not be allowed to come back to play.

EACH TEAM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEHAVIOUR OF THEIR SPECTATORS. ALL FINES INVOLVING SPECTORS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH TEAM CONCERNED.

ANY PLAYERS OR OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN AN ALTERCATION WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE LEAGUE AND PLAYOFF SEASON.

REFEREES

A referee will be appointed to officiate each game. Each team must pay the referee $15 before the start of the game. He/she shall enforce the laws of the game and his/her decision at time of game shall be final. He/she must complete the game sheet at the end of each game and report in writing on the reverse side of any discipline problems occurring during the game.
WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ABUSE TO REFEREES OR LEAGUE OFFICIALS AT ANY TIME. THE REFEREE’S DECISION OR INTERPRETATION IS FINAL.

PROTEST FOR LEAGUE GAME

Any protest must be submitted in writing to the League Convenor within 24 hours from the end of the game and must be accompanied by a fee of $100.00; all of this amount may be refunded if the appeal is upheld. The league decision is final; there will be no other appeal.

NO SHOW AND DEFAULT

A team not fulfilling its commitment or failing to show up for a game will be fined $100.00. Failure to pay the fine will result in the team management and players being suspended, until the fine has been paid.

Any team who defaults two games will be expelled from the League and all points on record will be deleted.

PLAYOFFS

The top 4 teams in each division will make the playoffs; there will be no cross-over games. (1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd)
